Manta Dive Gili Trawangan Lombok

 

 

 

 

Manta Dive is located on the beach of Gili Trawangan, a tiny paradise island north west of Lombok just east of Bali. The Gili Islands, Trawangan, Meno and Air, are surrounded by white sand beaches and vibrant clear waters. The diving is year round and the fringing coral reefs that surround the Gilis support a phenomenal array of marine life that will captivate scuba divers of all levels.

 

Marcus and Antony manage the dive shop. Together with our Instructors and Divemasters we offer a wealth of diving experience unequalled in Lombok and the Gilis, ensuring that dive courses and fun dives are conducted in both a safe and enjoyable manner.

 

Manta dive is the only 5 Star Dive Center and Instructor Training Facility in the region with Instructors qualified to teach both Padi and SSI courses.  We insist on the best tuition possible so make sure our Instructors are  highly qualified.

 

East of Bali and just off the north west coast of Lombok are the Gili Islands. The welcoming people of the Gilis make them the perfect destination for holidaymakers, families and honey mooners alike.

 

Accommodation options now suit every budget ranging from a bamboo hut to a luxury villa. This has all been achieved while maintaining the peaceful atmosphere typically assosiated with a tropical island retreat.

 

Motorised transport is not permitted on the islands so a local taxi comes in the form of a traditional horsecart, called a Cidomo. Bargaining with the drivers is all part of the fun but make sure you do this before you start your journey. Bicycles can also be rented at reasonable prices but remember you are on a small island so nothing is very far away.

 

Although known as mainly a diving destination the Gili islands now also offer visitors a variety of other activities and indulgences, from water skiing and golf to manicures and massages.  Whatever your holiday needs the Gilis will more than do them justice.

 

Accommodation:
8 traditional bungalows set in a peaceful garden. The natural building materials used are finished to western standards with A/C, mini-bar, safety deposit box and luxurious bedding. The contempary Asian fusion is completed by the elegant outdoor bathroom.

 

Bar and Restaurant:
Serves a wide range of Indonesian and continental foods, beer, soft drinks and more beer.

 

Massage:
From Ali the legendary massage man. Available at very reasonable rates. 60,000rps (approx $7) per hour.

 

First Aid:
Oxygen is always in our boats and in the Dive Center, as is a First Aid kit.  Our staff are trained in basic First Aid, rescue breathing and CPR.

 

Speed Boat:
For fast transfers to and from Lombok.

 

Our swimming pool has recently been extended to give student divers more space.  We has also widened the pool adding a beach area to allow hotel guests somewhere to cool down even when divers are in the main part of the pool.  A larger area for sunbeds has also been added next to the pool to lounge around. We also have hammocks and a large baruga (essentially a chill-out area on stilts) where you can relax, read the paper or play games.

 

Diving:
DIVE SITES GILI ISLANDS

 

There are 16 sites that we visit around the Gili islands, most are suited to all levels of diver but a few require an Advanced certification or higher.

 

Shark Point: Suitable for all levels

 

Reef shark the Gilis LombokAn excellent site for viewing larger marine life on the north side of Gili Trawangan. A flat sandy bottom turns into a series of progressively deeper canyons that run parallel to the shore. This is probably the most popular site because of the sheer variety of life seen here on a single dive. Reef sharks are found basking in the canyons, cuttlefish, stingrays, tons of turtles in the shallows, and every full moon it is a favourite hang out for a school of huge bumphead parrot fish. Large rays sometimes pass by as well as schooling trevelly.

 

Manta Point: Suitable for all levels

 

Manta RayA gently sloping reef on the south side of Gili Trawangan with a good variety of hard and soft corals, interspersed with bombies and large table corals which shelter the fish. There is rarely any current here, an excellent site to get close up with reef sharks, sting rays, cuttlefish, octopus and in season a passing manta!!

 

Halik: Suitable for all levels

 

TurtleA steep slope on the north side of Gili Trawangan, from 5m down to 24m with a series of gullies at the bottom. A fine site to multi level dive, the selection of soft coral in the deeper section gives way to hard corals as you ascend and in the shallows there are always several turtles totally unfazed by the presence of divers. This is also a great site for drift dives.

 

Deep Turbos: Suitable for Advanced Divers
Reef fish and soft coral
A great deep dive just off the east of Gili Trawangan with spectacular topography. At 30m this site has a sandy bottom between large sea mounds. These sea mounds range in size and have an interesting variety of overhangs and outcrops, the largest of which go up to about 20m depth. You'll find a good variety of corals and some huge sea fans. Thousands of garden eels cover the sandy bottom and barracuda, leopard sharks and giant rays can also be seen here.
