Raja4Divers located on Pulau Pef a scenic exclusive private resort island, in remote central Raja
Ampat West Papua.

Waigeo in the North, Batanta, Salawati and Misool to the South. Pulau Pef is located 110km
(68mi) from Sorong and 48km (30mi) south of the equator, in central remote Raja Ampat.

Arrival on Saturday - Departure on Friday directly to the hotel in Sorong for an over-night stay
Saturday: Transfer to the Sorong airport for check-in

Along a beautiful coconut palm fringed beach, Raja4Divers offers six authentic Papuan style
water bungalows on stilts. Spacious, light and airy, each bungalow is equipped with luxurious
creature comforts, en-suite indoor/outdoor garden bathroom, hot and cold water, while
retaining rustic Papuan authenticity. Fans, towels, soap, shampoo, tissues and mosquito
repellent are provided.
The design relies on proven traditional Papuan building methods, and blends with modern
ideas in order to maximise airflow and promote well-being, without compromising the natural
surroundings. A large front deck with steps into the water offers spectacular views particularly
at sunset, where you can enjoy an inescapable sense of being one with nature.
The resort offers a conveniently located professional Dive Centre, an air-conditioned Camera
Atelier, a library, satellite Wi-Fi internet, kayaks, petanque and volley ball court.
The over-water restaurant serves a delicious cuisine fused with local and contemporary
flavours, with the emphasis on fresh produce and local flavours.
Besides the diving and snorkelling, beautiful Pulau Pef also offers a host of other exciting
activities close to nature - kayaking, swimming, sunbathing on a private beach, jungle trails,
birding, or just relax in the hammock or lounge on your private deck, enjoying the breeze and
the beautiful views

The resort is under Swiss management and open year round. Fostering co-operation with the
surrounding villages in day-to-day activities, the operation supports the local economy by
buying fresh fish, produce, local materials, as well as employing and training many friendly
Papuans from the nearby villages. Raja4Divers redefines the Raja Ampat diving holiday by
offering an authentic Papuan experience, one with nature, without compromising on quality,
comfort and service.

The pristine beauty of the Raja Ampat both above and below the water is truly un-rivalled.
Dramatic lime-stone island outcrops dot the azure ocean, while on the larger islands, coastal
mountain ranges punctuate the lush, verdant forest canopies that sweep downhill towards
coconut palms on white sand beaches. The incredible topside scenery is only the beginning -
as soon as you drop beneath the surface, a fairy tale wonderland awaits. The Raja Ampat is
deemed a ‘species factory for marine life, with scientists proclaiming the region as one of the
Earth’s richest seascapes. These rich reefs are home to 75% of all known coral species and
more than 3000 species of reef fish.
Conservation is active in Marine Protected Areas in the Raja Ampat and a ‘No-take Zone’ in
the area around Pulau Pef.

Pulau Pef is waiting to be explored, covered in lush virgin jungle, surrounded by spectacular
bays, white sand beaches, coconut palms, an array of world-class dive-sites and snorkelling
locations, fish and critters, pristine blue water mangroves, hidden lakes, blue lagoons, limestone
‘mushroom’ islands, and ancient rock-art on karst cliffs, with incredible birds, wild orchids,
monitor lizards, colourful butterflies a.o.

Diving & Snorkelling

The Dive Centre is managed by a team of professional PADI instructors, backed by valuable
local knowledge and experienced dive guides. While the Dive Centre is located in the main
building at the start of the jetty, the wet and dry storage areas are conveniently located at the
end of the jetty where dive briefings are held and the dive boats are docked.
An air-conditioned camera Atelier is available for camera set-up.
Equipped with a Bauer Mariner 320-E and a Bauer M250B compressor, as well as a Nuvair LP
280 Nitrox membrane system, Raja4Divers offers unlimited diving - up to three guided boat
dives daily plus a night dive. The use of Nitrox 32 is encouraged, and offered free of charge to
certified Enriched Air Divers. In order to become Nitrox certified, ask about completing the
PADI Enriched Air Specialty course during your trip.
The dive boats are fast, quiet and fuel efficient by using twin Yamaha 50hp 4-stroke outboard
engines. The dive boats are equipped with built-in shade protection, and have been specially
custom fitted for maximum space and comfort, with a ratio of one dive guide to four divers
and a maximum of eight divers per boat.  Each dive boat is equipped with standard safety
equipment - First Aid kit, First Aid Oxygen, tools, GPS, compass and 2-way radio, as well as
dedicated padded camera crate, drinking water and towels on all trips. In order to maximise
comfort and convenience it is highly recommended to bring your own soft-gear: wetsuit, mask,
snorkel, fins and booties. Limited rental gear is available: BCD, regulator, dive computer, and
dive torch, however in order to avoid disappointment be sure to book items at least 60 days in
advance.
Dedicated diving insurance such as DIVERS ALERT NETWORK (or similar), which covers
emergency evacuation, is mandatory, since the Raja Ampat is extremely remote.
Conservative diving and safety practices are strongly encouraged, dive computers are
mandatory and the focus is strictly on non-decompression diving, with slow controlled ascents.
An SMB (surface marker buoy) is mandatory, and will be issued if required to all divers for the
duration of their trip.
The waterproof Raja Ampat Marine Park entrance tag must be purchased by all visitors
whether diver or non-diver, arranged on arrival at the resort in IDR
cash. The tag is valid for one calendar year, January to January.
Diving and snorkelling conditions are good year round, with the water
temperature a constant 28-30°C (82-86°F) and visibility averaging 10-
20m. The thickness of wetsuit neoprene versus Lycra skin is a personal
preference. For divers and snorkelers it is strongly advised to wear a full
suit, as a barrier against hydroids on the abundant reefs and the
possibility of marine ‘stingers’ in the water. The use of gloves is strongly
discouraged to enforce protection of the reef:
‘TAKE ONLY PICTURES AND LEAVE ONLY BUBBLES!’
In the Raja Ampat in general it is normal for water visibility to seem a tad ‘reduced’ due to the
excessive amounts of nutrients present, which in fact nourish these rich reefs via tidal currents.
Currents converging around a point of reef can tend to cause a stupendous diversity of fish
schools to congregate, a phenomenon that has made the Raja Ampat famous. Dives are
planned according to the tides and the least current, however, since ‘good currents = good
fish’.
