Accomodation

We currently have two options for accommodation in Ambon

Maluku Divers' Resort Accommodation
Situated in a quiet waterfront resort two hundred yards from the dive centre facility. The new, twin or double rooms are all en-suite, with new air conditioning units, hot water showers and brand new, thick comfortable beds, custom made to order and shipped across from Bali.
Nestled in two hectares of ocean front land, the quiet resort offers the most comfortable accommodations to be found in Ambon. With balconies with direct ocean views, it's a perfect place for quiet contemplation and relaxation between dives. The resort offers the opportunity for both privacy and a communal atmosphere, with the large restaurant and editing area, a pretty beach and seating areas scattered along the sheltered palm encrusted coastline.
Divers are chauffeured between the resort and the dive centre, using traditional becak transport, similar to Thai rickshaws, a pretty ride through the quiet village where the dive centre is situated.
The open air restaurant also houses an editing area, with ample bench space for divers to dismantle equipment and prepare for the macro or wideangle dives of the following day. Aaccommodation incl all of your meals.

With the development of this comfortable accommodation, Maluku Divers have developed the first waterfront accommodation with private bathrooms on Ambon island, further pushing the opportunities for a more discerning diver to visit and enjoy the spectacular diving of Maluku.

We also have a more budget option of accommodation, this is clean and comfortable, but more toward the back packer market, including food. These rooms are all housed in the dive centre and most have shared bathroom facilities.

The menu courtesy of the local chef, who prepares a delightful array of Indonesian style dishes, freshly grilled tuna and other locally purchased pelagic sea fish, rice, local vegetables and soups. During two tank dive trips, delightful lunches are taken aboard the dive vessels, to be enjoyed in one of the idyllic and secluded bays nestled along Ambon's coastlines.

Diving Ambon, Diving Maluku; Incredible Bio Diversity

The diversity of sites within easy range of the dive centre is one of the most outstanding attributes of the Maluku Divers location diving Ambon. For wide angle photographers and those who like to look up during their dives, the schooling fishlife that inhabits the slopes, walls and pinnacles, amongst the myriad of fishes, is an awe inspiring experience.

Diving Pintu Kota reveals incredible underwater architecture, with a huge underwater archway mirroring the rock formation above water, and Hukurila Cave has twisting caverns and canyons swarming with life. Pulau Tiga is a small group of islands found on the Western Coast of Ambon, the sheer number of fish that inhabit the slopes of these small islands is mesmerising. A day trip to this region, drift diving the hard and soft coral slopes is very special, and the idyllic palm tree fringed islands are a beautiful backdrop for the surface interval.

During additional diving Ambon day trip options, the sites at Molana island and Nusa Laut are heralded amongst the best sites in the Banda Sea, a day is well spent enjoying their plunging walls and schooling fish. Though these trips are exceptional and well worth the additional travel, the sites which are close to the Dive Resort are plentiful and varied enough to dive very frequently.

Diving Ambon also has a vast array of pelagic species that inhabit the abundant waters. During dives along the south coast Manta Rays, various shark species and large majestic napoleon wrasse are prolific. With whales, dolphins and even the occasional orca making a rare visit, the lucky few divers who manage to watch these incredible mammals underwater take pleasure in an exquisite and long lasting memory of diving Maluku.

Muck Diving, Ambon Critter hunting

Divers who visit the sites in the Laha region are always astonished by the sheer number of species Ambon critter hunting can produce. Critters which choose to make a home in the rubble and muck on the northern coast of Ambon's harbour. Muck diving in the region has become legendary! The resident rhinopias have pegasus sea moths, countless varieties of frog fish and star gazers for company. Both professional and amateur photographers have claimed the site is not only a rival of, but an improvement to the muck diving found at the Lembeh Strait.

The muck diving in Ambon is unique and Maluku Divers' knowledgeable dive guides understand the waters of Ambon like no others.

Recently a possible NEW SPECIES of Frogfish has been discovered by Toby of Maluku Divers, click here for the most recent photos of the specimen.

An easy, shallow night dive on the beach at Latulahat will also offers great Ambon critter hunting, with dwarf cuttlefish, crocodile fish and octopus regularly spotted. The late great dive guide Mr Larry Smith once described the site as the best night dive he had ever enjoyed.
Diversity and Convenience

Muck diving may not be for everyone, however, the beauty of the Maluku Divers facility is the fact that the world class muck diving is just a 10 minute boat ride from the coral encrusted slopes of Ambon's South coast, or just a few minutes from the 100 metre wreck.

With two well equipped, twin engine dive vessels, the dive centre can simultaneously offer alternative destinations for individual groups. Why dive somewhere dedicated to muck diving, when divers can have the option of both muck and scenic diving, whilst staying at the same dive centre. The diversity on offer means that even the most staunch advocate of coral diving can give Ambon critter hunting a try, without forfeiting an entire dive trip.
