10 days Sumatra tour

 

Day 01. Arrive in Medan with flight.. at …
We will fetch you in the airport of Medan and transfer to our hotel Deli River for overnight stay, situated just outside Medan in the middle of a tropical garden.
 
Day 02. Medan – Ketambe.
Today you will make a trip to Ketambe with impressive route through the jungle to the mountain village of Brastagi in the Karo highlands. In the afternoon you will arrive in Ketambe and overnight stay in Pondok Wisata Ketambe (simple).

 

Day 3. Ketambe own program.
In this tropical primary rainforest, you can do your own program such as: jungle trekking. Please note that this is optional, you have to arrange and pay the local guide on the spot yourself.

 

Day 4. Ketambe - Samosir via Tele.
In the morning we start drive to Samosir island via Tele city. In the afternoon you will arrive on the island an 2 overnight stays in hotel Toledo Inn or hotel Carolina on Samosir island right on the lakeside.

 

Day 5. Samosir - tour to Tomok, Ambarita and Simanindo.
On this beautiful island you can visit the typical Toba Batak villages: Tomok with its kings' tombs, Ambarita with its execution tables and in Simanindo you can see traditional Batak dances.

 

Day 6. Samosir - Padang Sidempuan / Sipirok.
In the early morning you will cross the lake to Prapat from where you leave for Padang Sidempuan. Along the southern shores of lake Toba with its lovely ricefields and huge Batak kings' graves you travel through the Toba highlands. During the trip you will pass hot sulphur springs at Sipoholon. From Tarutung, the center of the Protestant Batak church, you continue driving until Padang Sidempuan, a city in the middle of Mandailing land. Overnight stay in hotel Natama in Padang Sidempuan.
 
Day 7. Padang Sidempuan / Sipirok - Bukittinggi.
The route to Bukittingi in the Minangkabau highlands brings you again right through the Bukit Barisan mountainical ridge of Sumatra. It is an impressive tour in which you drive through a wall of tropical rain forest. En route you pass the equator in the place Bonjol. In the afternoon we arrive in the cool and pleasant town of Bukittingi . 2 overnight stays in hotel Denai or Pusako in Bukittinggi.

 

Day 8. Bukittinggi - excursions in the area.
Trip to the Harau Nature Reserve with huge rock formations, the Minangkabau Palace in Pagaruyung and Lake Singkarak .
 
Day 9. Bukittinggi - city tour and excursion to lake Maninjau .
 In the morning city tour taking in 'Fort De Kock', the museum, the market and the 'Karbouwengat'. The former Fort De Kock lies on a strategic point where you have an excellent view of the surounding mountains. Next you can visit the Minangkabau museum, the colourful marketplace and the famous canyon 'Karbouwengat' (Ngarai Sianok). After these visits we depart for the mysterious lake Maninjau , along the way descending to the lake by the 44 curves. Overnight stay in hotel Nuansa Maninjau in a fine hotel on the mountain overlooking the lake.

 

Day 10. Maninjau - Cubadak island drop off.

 

Today you go to Padang via the beautiful Anai valley with the Anai waterfall. The harbour city of Padang on the Indian ocean is the economic centre of West Sumatra . Upon arrival in Padang , we will transfer you to the harbour to depart by boat for around 15 minutes to reach the island Cubadak from Padang .

 

Includes :  overnight accommodation in above hotels + breakfast, German or English speaking guide, transport in comfortable air-conditioned minibus + fuel,  the driver, his meals and overnight accommodation costs,  ferry Samosir – Parapat viceversa,  entrance and parking fees as mentioned in above program.

Note (Cubadac is not included in program) :
Cubadak is a tropical Robinson Crusoe island with white sandy beaches. You can do diving and snorkeling in the fascinating 'sea garden' in front of your room. The cottages on Cubadak island is surrounded by white sandy beach  direct on the waterfront. You will stay in cosy timber in comfortable cottages.
